Q. If we replant a tree, does the 3-year arlah count start from when the tree was originally planted or when we replanted it?
A. If (you live out of Eretz Yisrael and) the tree was purchased balled, burlapped, or in a pot (i.e., not "bare root"), you count from the original planting. But if the tree was planted bare root, or if the dirt fell off from around the tree when it was planted, you must restart the count from when you replanted it.
